Czech Academy of Sciences announces a competition for the position of Director of the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences

Requirements:

• university degree and scientific qualification in mathematics,
• significant scientific activity in the field of mathematics with an international reputation,
• organisational skills and managerial experience,
• active knowledge of English language, basic knowledge of Czech language, other language skills an advantage,
• fulfilment of the conditions laid down in Act No 451/1991 Coll. laying down certain other requirements for the performance of certain functions in state bodies and organisations of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic, as amended (does not apply to applicants who are not citizens of the Czech Republic),
• moral integrity,
• integrity pursuant to Section 17(4)(b) and (c) of Act No 341/2005 Coll., on Public Research Institutions, as amended,
• legal capacity1) .

The director of the Institute may not be a member of the management or supervisory bodies of legal persons carrying on business activities and may not participate in the business of legal persons operating in the area covered by the Institute. This restriction does not apply to the management of his/her own property (Article 17(6) of Act No 341/2005 Coll.).

Expected term of office: from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2029.

• proof of higher education and scientific qualifications
• a summary of previous experience,
• a list of main scientific papers and other publications,
• a concept of the management of the Institute and the direction of its activities, including the future development of the Institute,
• an extract from the criminal record not older than 3 months1) ,
• an affidavit of good repute pursuant to Section 17(4)(c) of Act No 341/2005 Coll.1)

The selected candidate shall submit proof of fulfilment of the conditions pursuant to Act No. 451/1991 Coll. to the President of the CAS no later than on the date of appointment as Director of the Institute.
