Bioinformatician / Software developer

Loschmidt Laboratories at Masaryk University and St. Anne’s University Hospital develop web-based software for the bioinformatic and protein engineering community. We are world leaders in this domain – our web tools are used by thousands of scientists, engineers and doctors in more than 150 countries. The tools enable the computational design of optimized proteins for biomedical, biotechnology, and environmental applications. We solve scientific projects with deep meaning and use software tools to combat Alzheimer's Disease, acute stroke and cancer.

Resposibilities

• decide on architecture and selection of technologies
• supervision of the development of software in bioinformatics domain
• contribution to development of complex workflows, algorithms and graphical user interfaces
• connection of the world of software engineers and computational biologists
• contribution to training of students and supervision of student theses

Skills and competencies

• secondary school or university education in the fields of bioinformatics, chemoinformatics, matematical biology and related fields
• experience with supervision of software development projects
• willigness to learn, reliability, team work and independence
• good communication skills in English
• basic knowledge of sequence and structural bioinformatics of proteins
• advantage is knowledge of programming in Java, Python and JavaScript
• advantage is knowledge of development and deployment process tools
