The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit research and educational institution with a strong scientific and technological orientation, emphasizing international collaborations and cross-disciplinary research and post graduate education. CyI, through its established research centers, addresses challenging issues that are important at both the regional and international levels. Many of its research activities are being carried out in partnership with leading institutions in the respective thematic areas. Within this context, CyI in cooperation with Advanced Partners Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, University of Helsinki and Commission for Atomic Energy – Laboratory for Sciences of the Climate and the Environment, are establishing the “(CARE-C) Eastern Mediterranean Middle East – Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre of Excellence” under Horizon 2020 – TEAMING Grant no. 856612 and in the framework of the INFRASTRUCTURES/1216/0070, NANO2 LAB project, which is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus through the Research Innovation Foundation (Strategic Infrastructure).

The position offers excellent possibilities for professional development of highly motivated individuals, thus CARE-C invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to carry out research as a member of the Innovation Department. The role of the Post-Doctoral Fellow will be to conduct research in the field of nanosciences and nanotechnology, and more specifically nanoparticle/nanomaterial synthesis and characterization for applications in gas sensing. The successful candidate will also be actively involved in efforts for securing competitive funding related to the activities of the Innovation Department.

The position will be on a full-time basis for a fixed term of one year, renewable depending on performance and availability of funds. The successful candidate will be under the supervision of the Head of the Innovation Department of CARE-C.

Responsibilities/activities to be involved in:

  • Contribute in the development of innovative systems for nanoparticle synthesis and characterization
  • Contribute in the writing up of scientific publications
  • Contribute in the writing up of research proposals
  • Co-supervise research projects/students
