About the Tian Group : 

Prof. Ruijun Tian’s research Group in SUSTech focuses on analyzing cell-cell signal transduction in the tumor microenvironment. By combining bioanalytical and chemical biology technologies, we develop new proteomic technologies and methods based on biological mass spectrometry, and apply them to analyze cancer signal transduction pathways at the system level for the discovery of new drug targets and biomarkers. Based in Department of Chemistry, School of Science, we manage a competent and state-of-the-art bio-analytical platform including multiple high-end mass spectrometers (Thermo Scientific Exploris 480, timsTOF Pro, etc.), high-performance data analysis servers, and other cell biology/biochemistry/molecular biology-related equipment. We collaborate closely with Shenzhen Cancer Institute and the First Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech, Shenzhen. At present, our vigorous research team includes more than 20 doctors, research assistants and graduate students with a lively scientific research atmosphere.

We are recruiting international doctoral students in 2023: 

Major: chemistry

Research areas: chemical biology, analytical chemistry

Start date: September 2023

Duration of study: 4 years fixed term

Your responsibilities:

-Actively and effectively contribute to the development of the project in research, training and organization of the program.

-Produce high-quality written manuscripts for publication.

-Present your results at national and international conferences.

-Assist with training other researchers, including masters’ and undergraduate project students when required.

-Cooperate and support other researchers within the project team and beyond.

Candidacy Requirements：

- This program is limited to non-Chinese citizens indicated by a valid passport.

- A master degree in chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, or similar fields. (Applicants who have not graduated can provide the certificate of expected graduation, while the official diploma must be provided before enrollment.)

-Language competence:

TOEFL 90 or above; or IELTS 6.5 overall or above, with no sub-scores lower than 6. TOEFL and IELTS are not required for applicants with English as their first language, or for those who have obtained the previous degree from institutions where English is the instruction language. Please note that SUSTech academic office may have higher English language requirements.

-Former experience in biochemistry, cell biology or tumor biology is welcomed but not required.

-The ability to work creatively and independently towards targets in your own research project and collaborate with researchers in other disciplines.

-Strong hands-on ability, team spirit, strong sense of responsibility, and proactive with work.

Remuneration and Benefits：

- A stipend of RMB 100,000 per year for up to four years.

- Outstanding students can apply for tuition fee waiver (RMB 40,000 per year).
