Position 

As the Sales Specialist at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden (UABG), you will be an integral part of our mission to connect people with nature, the earth, and the essence of life. In this dynamic role, you will spearhead the sales of Garden offerings, employing strategic sales and lead generation approaches. Your proactive and results-driven approach will be pivotal in securing new renters, driving revenue growth, and ensuring the success of our facility rental program. Join our passionate team and play a key role in creating transformative experiences for our clients within the breathtaking backdrop of our 240-acre award-winning garden.
This position is the first touch point for clients, reaching out to potential clients and following up with those who reach out to us. This role captures the needs of the clients and shows them exactly how we can make their event just the way they want it. This team also ensures clear details are communicated to the execution team once booked. This role works with direction from the Customer and Market Development team to implement sales techniques targeted at identified segments based on market research and directly reaches out to targeted markets to sell our offerings via selected channels and outreach methods.

Duties 

  • Implement effective sales strategies to increase the activation and revenue rates of interested parties.
  • Achieve $1 million in annual revenue and drive continuous growth year after year.
  • Collaborate with the Customer and Market Development team to identify and reach out to target markets through selected channels and outreach methods.
  • Employ a combination of warm and cold outreach techniques to identify and secure potential users.
  • Collaborate with the Customer and Market Development team to develop promotional materials and campaigns to boost facility rental awareness.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Initiatives team to create customized pricing packages, discounts, and incentives, optimizing revenue streams while remaining competitive in the market.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Education in Sales, Business Administration, marketing, or other related areas required;
  • 3-5 years of proven success in sales or a related field, showcasing a track record of driving results and delivering exceptional customer experiences;
  • Ability and experience working within a fast-paced, demanding environment with competing priorities;
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines while working on multiple projects at the same time;
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with cross-functional teams;
  • Excellent oral communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Creative, energetic, and self-motivated;
  • Computer experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and understanding of social media and website platforms an asset;
  • Experience and understanding of Google Suite an asset;
  • Project management experience is an asset;
  • Standard First Aid (within 3 years) and CPR C Certification (within 1 year) an asset.
