The Opportunity
The School of Hospitality and Tourism (H&T) is hiring an Operations Analyst.  This position reports to the Associate Dean and will play a key role in achieving the vision and mission of the school. 
The Operations Analyst is responsible for coordinating the School of Hospitality and Tourism’s Academic operations, including: planning and scheduling programs; supporting the School Leadership team with reporting, forecasting, and conducting analysis of School metrics.  
Collaboration with the leadership team, faculty, staff and the SAIT community will be critical to support making data driven decisions to support business operations.

We also create and execute several events and work hand-in-hand with industry to provide our students with highly relevant experience such as practicums, internships and class project work.  
The Role
    • Planning, Scheduling and Labour Budgeting (25%)
    • Lead the planning and scheduling process in the School of Hospitality and Tourism working with Academic Chairs, the Associate Dean and Administrative team to ensure effective and efficient scheduling to support student and faculty success.
    • Compile and analyze scheduling and loading information with the Academic Chairs and Office of the Registrar
    • Lead role in planning and analyzing school budget and forecast with respect to program hours, student enrollment and service requests.
    • Document processes for planning and schedule and utilize a continuous improvement mindset to make recommendations for updates and enhancements.
    • Liaise with other departments at SAIT to support planning and scheduling initiatives.
    • Develop and maintain a 2-year future schedule to determine school capacity. 

    •  Reporting & Analysis (25%)
    • Track key school and program metrics and prepare summary reports on trends.
    • Conduct research, analyze and synthesize school information and organize reports to support the Dean and Associate Dean on School initiatives.
    • Assist in generating reports, maintaining databases, and ensuring data accuracy to support informed decision-making. 
    • Play a key role in integrating technology solutions to enhance school operations and processes.

    • Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) Analysis and Management (25%)
    • Lead the planning, development and rolloutof a comprehensive process to coordinate effective COGS management across the school.
    • Liaise and coordinate with key stakeholders (i.e. Academic Chairs and faculty, Supply Chain team, and the Operations team)
    • Monitor and assess performance of COGS processes, continually refining as required

    • Project Coordination and Analysis (25%)
    • Support the leadership team and school with special projects, as assigned

Qualifications & Experience
    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area (i.e. Business/Hospitality Management)
    • Minimum 5 years of related work experience with data analysis, project management and financial management experience
    • Hospitality and Tourism experience considered an asset
    • Strong analytical skills and advanced MS office experience is required
    • Creativity and problem-solving skills are needed and a willingness to challenge assumptions and put forward ideas
    • A combination of education and experience may be considered

    • Ability to communicate, negotiate and influence colleagues to ensure high quality project outcomes
    • Financial acumen, including knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and planning
    •  Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with diverse team members
    • Critical thinking skills and conflict resolution abilities
    • Technical knowledge of planning and reporting software (i.e. Tableau; others) 
    • Organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Motivated self-starter who thrives on taking initiative and performs well with minimal supervision
    • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to adapt to new and changing priorities
    • Embody core personal traits of kindness to others, patience and assuming positive intent. These are integral to nurturing the culture we aspire to in the school

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000
Hours Per Week: 37.5
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation/14 Flex Days per year
Start Date: June 1, 2024
End Date: May 31, 2026
