Research Coordinator, Covid-19 and Health Care Workers

To coordinate data and sample collection for an interprovincial study of Covid-19 in health care workers

Duties

  • Identify health care workers recruited to the cohort who have agreed to be followed-up
  • Ensure they are sent the correct Phase 4 questionnaire
  • Monitor the return of the questionnaire and send reminders as necessary
  • Ascertain who has received the covid vaccine, together with the date and type
  • Ensure that the vaccination record is kept up-to-date by periodic emails to participants
  • Implement an operational system to ensure that the sequential collection of blood samples at 4, 7 and 13 months post first shot of the vaccine runs smoothly, incorporating consents, distribution of requisitions, reminders and brief questionnaires at the right date for each individual.
  • Liaise with the Provincial and other laboratories to obtain timely and complete results of antibody testing
  • Liaise with the Canadian biosample repository to ensure samples for banking are received and stored appropriately
  • Contact participants who have agreed to blood testing but fail to produce a sample and assist them in arranging to do this
  • Establish personal files for each respondent by downloading and printing consents and filing copies of all correspondence
  • Assist in the development and testing of the Phase 4 and other questionnaires as needed
  • Identification of controls for a nested case-referent study of those infected with the virus
  • Communicate effectively by establishing strong working relations with investigators, laboratory and other research staff and participants
  • Provides good documentation in relations to response rates, completeness of data, sample collection, antibody testing results and transfer of samples to storage
  • Assists in analysis, interpretation and drafting of periodic newsletters and final reports
  • Under the overall direction of the PI, helps to ensure accurate, timely and appropriate completion of tasks by junior members of the team

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science. A master’s degree with formal training in research methods and data analysis in health science, social science or other related fields would be preferred
  • Experience in handling large electronic data sets, ideally with Qualtrics
  • Meticulous accuracy
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills including experience interacting with health care workers
  • Willingness and capacity to communicate effectively by telephone essential
  • Substantial experience handling mass emailing, large excel databases, creating and embedding hyperlinks and managing multiple email accounts creatively is required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Software
  • Experience managing complex data collections and sensitive health data
