These positions have a term length of up to 7 months from the date of hire.

Location - These roles are hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person, with on-site work taking place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Position Summary

Applications are invited for 2 research assistant positions with Dr. Patrick Chiu. The positions involve supporting two knowledge synthesis (scoping review) projects focused on nursing regulation in Canada and anti-racism and health professions regulation. The role will include providing administrative and research tasks. Coaching and mentorship will be provided. The successful candidate will participate in project planning, meetings, carry out all phases of the scoping reviews, and support the development of presentations and manuscripts for publication.

Duties

  • Assist in screening citations and abstracts for applicability to inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Assist in retrieving and screening full texts for inclusion
  • Extract data elements from included studies
  • Participate in consensus meetings
  • Enter all data into electronic database
  • Manage systematic review management software (Covidence) and reference managers (e.g. Mendeley)
  • Assist with data cleaning, synthesis, organization and presentation of materials
  • Contribute to presentations and articles for publication
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in health or social sciences
  • Training systematic/scoping reviews
  • Demonstrated initiative, independence, organization and productivity
  • Experience in nursing or health science research projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing ability
  • Excellent time management and self-direction

The following qualifications are an asset:

  • Master’s or PhD (in progress or completed) preferred
  • Background in nursing or health sciences profession
