Hiring Unit:
Department of Biology
Position Summary:

  • Assists with environmental DNA sample preparation in water and sediment samples

  • Inventory and maintains field equipment

  • Organizes and regularly disposes of chemical and biological waste

  • Assists with cleaning glassware and field equipment, sample preps

  • Maintains an organized lab space

  • Organized

  • Ability to set and meet realistic deadlines

  • Works independently and makes own schedule

  • Good work ethic

  • Takes initiative

  • Comfortable handling chemicals

  • OPEN TO MCGILL WORK STUDY STUDENTS ONLY

  • Must be eligible for the McGill Work Study Program

  • Must be enrolled as a student

  • Lab Experience (lab-based courses, previous work experiences) and asset

  • Interest or background in environmental sciences/freshwater biology/ecology

  • WHMIS training

  • Knowledge of molecular biology techniques and equipment (pippetting, centrifuge, clean lab, etc)

  • Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 3 on a scale of 0-4.
