Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Campus Facilities Planning Manager, the Facilities Asset Analyst is responsible for assisting with the oversight, lifecycle management, and optimization of the university’s physical assets (including buildings, building systems, equipment, and infrastructure).
This role ensures that asset information is accurate, accessible, and aligned with institutional priorities related to maintenance, capital planning, risk management, and long term sustainability. The Facilities Asset Analyst collaborates with Operations and Maintenance, Space Planning, Capital Projects, Finance, IT, and external partners to support evidence based decision making and stewardship of university resources. The Facilities Asset Analyst supports the assistant director in the analysis of possibilities and the preparation of feasibility studies to be able to meet the infrastructure needs of the campus.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
•Sound understanding of asset management principles, including lifecycle planning, condition assessment, and capital renewal prioritization.
•Understanding of risk management practices related to infrastructure, asset condition, and service delivery.
•Knowledge of the latest trends and innovations in construction technology and methodologies.
•Knowledge of municipal, and provincial building codes and regulations.
•Familiarity with construction methods and the ability to recommend suitable materials for specific project requirements.
•Experience in developing detailed cost estimates for project budgeting.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills .
•Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and asset data Proficiency with asset management systems and data tools Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities Knowledge of: Facility condition assessments, Lifecycle modeling, Capital planning methodologies.
•Familiarity with standard construction contract terms and conditions.
•Understanding of various building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
•Experience in incorporating environmentally friendly practices into construction projects.
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
•Completion of bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, Business or Project Management or related field.
•Minimum of four years of experience in asset management, facilities planning, construction or capital planning. Experience in higher education sector would be highly preferred.
