Duties and Responsibilities:

The ‘Community Engagement Initiatives Coordinator’ plays a vital role in advancing Carleton’s community engagement priorities and activities, and facilitating strategic pan-university partnerships. The incumbent will be responsible for the administrative coordination of the Centre for Community Engagement (the Centre) and project coordination of our first flagship strategic partnership (CityStudio Ottawa) under the direction of the Centre’s Director. This includes but is not limited to planning, project coordination, supervisory responsibilities, strategic communications, reporting, and partnership relations and development.


Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
• Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, statistical software, enterprise software and technology devices.
• Excellent skills in the manipulation of electronic data processing and software applications
available through Information and Technology Services (ITS): Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Forms), Brightspace and Zoom.
• Experience with Banner and FAST is an asset.
• Experience with creative software (Adobe Creative Suite) and qualitative analysis software (NVivo) are an asset.
• Good research and writing skills, including the ability to analyze, integrate and describe data from multiple sources using the written word and visual media.
• Skill in drafting succinct, clear emails and records of meetings, including formal meeting minutes.
• Knowledge of the organizational structure of the university including its academic, student services and professional services components is an asset.
• Broad knowledge of the university’s engagement with community-based organizations, as well as its collaborations with the not-for-profit, private, and public sectors.
• Knowledge of university office administration policies, procedures, and processes.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and diplomatic skills and experience communicating with a variety of individuals including faculty, staff and students, as well as the university’s leadership team and external stakeholders from community members.
• Working knowledge of written and spoken French is an asset for CityStudio Ottawa and other bilingual partnership development.


Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
• University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five years of related work experience in community engagement, marketing, and communications and/ or public relations preferably in an academic setting.

Health and Safety Requirements

This position is regularly required to work on campus in person. In the event of a public health emergency or a health and safety issue, it is possible that you may be required to work temporarily remotely due to public health orders, directives and/or health and safety requirements. If this happens, you will work with your direct manager to set up a remote work environment including discussing appropriate technology and requirements. You are required to follow all University policies and directives, including to set up a safe and confidential workspace in a remote location and ensure all Carleton property (intellectual and other) is safeguarded. If required to work remotely, you will be notified by your manager when working full time physically onsite will resume.
