Internship Abroad Coordinator, Department of Global Health - School of Health - Georgetown University Medical Center

Job Overview

The Internship Abroad Coordinator serves as the main administrative and logistical contact for students, host partners and university departments for experiential learning placements abroad and in the U.S. (outside of DC) related to two courses: GLOH 3950: Global Health Practice and Research: An Experiential Learning Course and GLOH 7990: Field Research Module Abroad and Scholarly Project.  

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing pre-departure and in-country student support - orientation/trainings, location briefings, connecting to resources
  • Communicating and coordinating with global host organizations
  • Preparing logistical and administrative documentation with several GU departments and global host organizations
  • Processing financial transactions
  • Supporting communications and marketing projects

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Global Health, the Internship Abroad Coordinator is the primary contact for students regarding logistics and university administration for their experiential learning courses – specifically the GLOH 3950 Course Director for MS in Global Health and the Program Director for GLOH 7990 and global preceptors.

This position has been designated as On-Campus. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.  Such review may necessitate a change to a position’s mode of work designation. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree - preference for Global Health, Global Education or Liberal Arts with coursework focusing on the culture/history of developing countries
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and cultural competency with students, faculty, global partners, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with Mac OS and MS Office

Preferred Qualification

Substantial global experience in a higher education setting working with study abroad and/or global programming
