Reporting to the Assistant Director, Marketing & Brand Strategy, this critical management role will develop and manage all aspects of departmental communication for varsity and recreational programs.

This role provides guidance on web analytics/performance, media relations, sport communication best practice, league requirements and develops relevant and timely content related to our varsity and recreational programs. The individual will participate in the planning and execution of sporting events including hosting of OUA and USPORTS Championships. As well, the role will work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and across the university in relation to communication plans surrounding the department. The role will also be an active representative of the University with the provincial and national university sport associations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of university sport with significant expertise in sports communications and website management. Exceptional writing and editing ability, with professional experience in both digital and traditional formats. The role requires an ability to manage and balance multiple priorities, and align with policies and procedures internally and with sport associations (OUA/RSEQ/USPORTS) and an ability to manage stressful situations and tight deadlines in a positive, solution-oriented way.

The Assistant Manager, Digital Marketing and Strategy is a full-time continuing position. The full salary range is provided, however the starting salary will be between the minimum and the mid-point ($65,704 - $75,560) and based on the selected candidate's qualifications and other compensation factors. Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the development and delivery of a robust communications and digital platform strategy for all the recreation and varsity programs.


Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
 Knowledge of operational management and leadership concepts practices including program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, performance measurement management, and human resources
 Knowledge and experience of marketing, communications and management principles including monitoring and reporting analytics
 Demonstrated experience and management of the changing landscapes of communication/marketing channels and acquisition of retention of customers
 Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, manage multiple projects
 Excellent communication skills and good judgement
 Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures
 Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
 Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices


Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of an undergraduate University degree in Marketing, Business, Communication or related field. This along with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in digital marketing, communications or related field with demonstrated experience working in a dynamic recreation and/or sports organization or department, with at least one year of leadership and management experience.
