Special Teaching, Research or Outreach program:

*International Relations; with emphasis on Trade:

Teaching activities include historical perspectives and topics on the dynamics of International Relations that have as their organizing axis the debate on Brazil's trade policy and its relationship with the international trade system, including the processes of “re-shoring, near-shoring and friend-shoring” of value chains.

I) In teaching, the visiting professor will teach, among others, subjects from the Bachelor's degree in International Relations at UFABC, as listed below: - International Trade Negotiation Regimes and Brazilian policy

TOPICS Brazil's participation in the Havana Charter negotiations and in the first rounds of GATT. Free trade and right to development. UNCTAD and General System of Preferences. Brazil and the WTO. International coalitions and the commercial G20. Expertise in the Dispute Resolution System. Participation of the business sector and popular sectors in defining the Brazilian strategy. Regional trade agreements. New themes in international trade.

- International Dynamics of Productive Investments

TOPICS

Emergence of the multinational company. Concept of transnational production. Outsourcing and “global sourcing”. “Pull and push” factors. National government strategies to attract investment. Trajectory of Foreign Direct Investments in relation to international trade and the economic growth. Union relations and environmental standards. Role of Unctad and the WTO.

- Private International Law

TOPICS

Concept and object of Private International Law. The conflict of laws in space. Elements of connection (territory, nationality, domicile, autonomy of will). Questions relating to personal status of the individual and legal entity. International contracts. Process and interjurisdictional cooperation. Arbitration.

- Introduction to Law and Fundamentals of International Law

TOPICS Origin and conceptualization of Law. Sources of Law. Subjects of Law. Legal orders state and legal disciplines. Law and Justice. State and International Community. The Constitutions and International Relations. Study of the origins, history and legal-philosophical foundations of Law International. Description of the main legal families on the planet and their relationship with the system international legal. Distinction between Public International Law and Private International Law. Formal and material sources. Law of International Treaties. Relationships between standards international and domestic legal systems.

- Public International Law Topics

TOPICS Introduction to Law and Fundamentals of International Law. Subjects of International LawAudience: States, International Organizations, subnational entities and the human person. - Special Topics in International Law, Multilateralism and Human Rights

TOPICS Concepts and terminologies. Historical statement, dimensions and characteristics of human rights. Interculturality and human rights. International politics and human rights. Global protection and regional protection of human rights. Case studies of selected gender topics, race, ethnicity, environment, generational issues and public policy.

- Non-State Actors and International Relations

TOPICS Identification of non-state actors in International Relations. Historical process of affirmation of non-state actors in international relations. International trade union movement. Movements international humanitarian and peace. World Social Forum. Subnational entities in Relations International. Other non-state actors. Social participation in Forums and Organizations International. Brazilian foreign policy and global social organizations.

II) In Research and Postgraduate Studies, the visiting professor will work on subjects in UFABC Postgraduate programs, participate in research activities in collaboration with groups already established at the University, implement new lines of research and guide or co-supervisor students of undergraduate, scientific initiation and/or postgraduate work. Among the Postgraduate Programs at UFABC, Visiting Professors will be able to work in Postgraduate Studies in International Relations; Postgraduate degree in World Political Economy; Postgraduate degree in Human and Social Sciences.

III) In extension, the visiting professor must assist the International Relations course in creating and acting in extension projects, aiming at developing dialogical relationships with social, economic and political actors in the region and/or outside it, enabling students to contact with the practical aspects of international relations and their agents.

- History of Brazilian Foreign Policy

TOPICS Territorial formation of Portuguese America. Brazilian foreign policy since Independence until the end of the Cold War. Relationship between foreign policy, internal context and development strategies. Autonomy and dependence. Insertion in the region and economy worldwide. Relations with the United States. Articulation between Brazilian foreign policy, pursuit of development and construction of the national State.

- Contemporary Brazilian Foreign Policy

TOPICS Brazilian politics in the post-Cold War. Continuity and inclusion of new topics on the agenda Brazilian foreign policy. Neoliberalism and neodevelopmentalism in relationships international companies in Brazil. Regional integration initiatives. South-South Agenda.

- Non-State Actors and International Relations

TOPICS Identification of non-state actors in International Relations. Historical process of affirmation of non-state actors in international relations. trade union movement International. International humanitarian and peace movements. World Social Forum. loved subnationals in International Relations. Other non-state actors. Social participation in International Forums and Organizations. Brazilian foreign policy and social organizations global.

- Foreign Policy Analysis

TOPICS Foreign policy analysis: genesis and historical development; theoretical, conceptual and methodological tools; comparative perspective; actors, formation of preferences and domestic coalitions; political-bureaucratic analysis, institutional design and decision-making process in foreign policy; political regimes and foreign policy; cognitive analysis in foreign policy; foreign policy and social classes; foreign policy analysis by thematic areas; analysis of formulation of foreign policy in Brazil.

- Regional Integration - Theories and Experiences

TOPICS Theoretical foundations of integration processes, in their economic, social, political and cultural: liberalism, functionalism, realism, Marxism, constructivism, etc. The old man and the new regionalism. Regionalism and globalization. Supranationality, intergovernmentality and sovereignty of nation-states. Role of non-state actors, civil society and multinational companies. Comparison between integration trajectories in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas.
