The Institute of Botany (IBt) has an opportunity for a Postdoctoral fellowship on Plant Molecular Biology, with emphasis on analysis of large-scale sequencing data (genome and transcriptome), to be developed at the Laboratory of Physiology and Biochemistry, São Paulo / SP, Brazil. The project will be part of the Institutional Project “Challenges to biodiversity conservation facing climate changes, pollution and soil use and occupation” (grant number 2017/50341-0).
The approach of the present project involves the sequencing, assembly and annotation of whole genomes of two species, and also the sequencing and analysis of their transcriptome in response to defined environmental factors.
The candidate should have a PhD degree in Plant Genetics, Plant Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or related areas, obtained no more than seven years prior to application. Important requirements are extensive knowledge and practical experience in molecular biology techniques, gene expression analysis and NGS sequencing data analysis. Advanced knowledge in bioinformatics and programming language are highly desirable and will be a differential. The candidate's expertise must be proven by previous publications. Fluent English, in addition to the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, are essential requirements.
The position is open to Brazilians and foreigners. The fellowship, linked to the research project PDIP / IBt (2017 / 50341-0), will be awarded by FAPESP, according to the values established by the Foundation (R$ 7,373.10 monthly) for 12 months, with an extension of up to another 12 months, and has a Technical Reserve equivalent to 15% of the annual value of the scholarship.
