Offer Description

We invite applications for a post-doctoral position to work on cosmology and large-scale structures. Preference will be given to candidates with interest and/or experience in quasar cosmology, structure formation, machine learning, survey target selection, numerical tools (simulations and mocks) and the halo-galaxy connection.

Successful applicants will work in close collaboration with Raul Abramo (USP), and will be able to join a number of international consortia such as J-PAS, WEAVE-QSO, S-PLUS and PFS. This 2+1 year position is funded by a FAPESP grant, with salaries of R$ 9,047.40 (tax-free). The starting date is flexible, with a preference for the second half of 2024, and the grant covers travel and equipment, with the possibility of extended periods abroad.

USP is the top university in Latin America, and is the main center for astrophysics and cosmology in Brazil. Both the Physics and the Astronomy Departments host research groups working on a wide range of topics including cosmology, large-scale structure, advanced statistical methods and galaxy evolution, with participation in several international surveys and collaborations.
