The Department of Literature in the Faculty of Arts has the following part-time (65%, from 1 October to 31 December 2022): visiting tutor in the field of literature in English

Position

  • The courses you will teach are: Introduction to the Study of Literature in English, part I (from the Anglo-Saxon period to Romanticism; first-year BA course, 2 hours/week) and Constructing Age in Modern Literature (MA, 3 hours/week)
  • You will play a role in developing activating, student-centred and competence-driven education.
  • You do research in the field of literature in English
  • You develop a proposal for a postdoctoral research grant (e.g. FWO, Marie Curie, Fulbright)

Profile

  • You hold a PhD in English literature (or a comparable degree)
  • You have experience teaching literary courses at BA and/or MA level
  • You have a good publication record and are eligible for postdoctoral funding
  • Expertise in children’s literature studies and age studies is an additional asset
  • Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision .
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.

What we offer

  • We offer a part-time (65%) appointment as a visiting tutor for a period of 3 months (1 October – 31 December 2022)
  • Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scale  for a principal research fellow in the Contract Research Staff category (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP). If you work part time, your salary is calculated proportionally on the basis of your employment percentage.  
  • You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, a group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
  • The planned start date is 1 October 2022.
  • You will do most of your work at the City Campus in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
