The Institute of Development Policy (IOB) is looking for a 50% visiting professor in the field of Development Monitoring and Evaluation.

Position:

Education:

  • You will provide high-quality education in the advanced Master of Development Evaluation and Management.
  • You will teach a course on Monitoring and Evaluation (2 ECTS) in the Module “National Institutions, Poverty Reduction and Aid ”.
  • You will play a role in developing research-based, student-centred and competence-driven programme components and study programmes.
  • You will supervise students and their Master dissertations.

Research and outreach:

Profile

  • You hold a PhD in development studies or adjacent disciplines (political science, sociology/anthropology, geography, …).
  • In view of the current composition of senior staff and in line with IOB’s policy to promote equal opportunities, multiperspectivity and diversity, you obtained your initial higher education degree in a Low or Middle Income Country.
  • Your work is preferably interdisciplinary in nature and preferably engages with a mixture of methodological approaches;
  • You have proven experience with Monitoring and Evaluation in Global South contexts.
  • Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision .
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
  • You are a team player.

What we offer

  • We offer a 50% appointment for a period of 1 year. The level of your appointment (assistant professor, associate professor, professor or full professor) is determined on the basis of your professional experience and academic qualifications.
  • Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scales for a visiting professor in the Contract Research Staff category (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP). If you work part time, your salary is calculated proportionally on the basis of your employment percentage.   
  • You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, a group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.                                                                                                                                
  • The planned start date is 1 January 2023.
  • We expect you to be in Antwerp from 10 March – 10 June 2023 and 18 August – 8 September 2023. If you reside abroad, we can provide facilities to make this possible.
  • When you are in Antwerp, you will do most of your work at the City Campus in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
