The University of Antwerp is looking for a full-time (m/f/x) Valorisation Manager for the Universities of Applied Sciences within the AUHA (KdG, AP and AMA) and within the following domains: Healthy, sustainable and inclusive city; Digital innovation; Sustainable careers, as part of the support for basic and applied research provided by the Industrial Research Fund (IOF).

Position

  • As a valorisation manager, you will facilitate the growth of the valorisation potential of practice-oriented research within the universities of applied sciences by, among other things:
    • (i) promote cooperation with the business community and develop a network with private and public sector partners;
    • (ii) identify, describe and protect the 'intellectual property' and potentially valorisable knowledge;
    • (iii) proactively explore new initiatives in the field of collaboration and valorisation, with a particular focus on the impact of rapidly evolving technology on new research and valorisation opportunities in the fields described above.
    • (iv) facilitate the entire valorisation process (from the identification of valorisation partners and the definition of projects to the conclusion of agreements).
  • You tap into new valorisation opportunities with the aim of valorising the expertise available within the universities of applied sciences, together with the business world and other professional field organisations;
  • As a member of the universities of applied sciences, you stimulate cooperation with the other institutions of the AUHA and you help build national and international networks;
  • In your position, you will work closely with the other valorisation managers and valorisation experts from the University of Antwerp and the universities of applied sciences;
  • You will help develop the strategy, roadmap and collaborations of the universities of applied sciences within the valorisation policy of the AUHA. You will become the single point of contact for the valorisation policy within the AUHA universities of applied sciences.

More generally, your activities will focus on the industrial and societal valorisation of research results, with the aim of increasing the IOF parameters of the AUHA. The Valorisation manager's main focus is on facilitating industrial revenues, revenues from EU programmes, patents and spin-offs.

Profile

  • You are in possession of a master's degree with at least 5 years of experience in one of the fields described above.
  • You will be appointed at the University of Antwerp, but will mainly work on location, on the campuses of the AUHA universities of applied sciences involved.
  • You have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and have the necessary communication and administrative skills and experience in contract negotiations;
  • You have a feel for both practice-oriented research within universities of applied sciences and the business sector;
  • You have demonstrable valorisation knowledge, preferably related to one of the domains described above;
  • Experience with technology transfer processes based on scientific knowledge is recommended;
  • Experience in managing and managing various projects is recommended;
  • Experience with various aspects of property rights management is recommended;
  • You are connecting, quality-oriented, honest, creative and collaborative;
  • Due to the international context of the position, a good active knowledge of English is necessary;
  • You feel comfortable representing the interests of different institutions and partners in order to arrive at a joint valorisation approach.

What we offer

  • An employment contract of indefinite duration, depending on positive evaluations and available budgets, appointed at the University of Antwerp. After 1 year, there is a first evaluation.
  • A full-time gross monthly salary of Valorisation manager with a salary scale for postdoctoral researcher or lecturer. You can consult the pay scales here  .
