The Faculty of Law is looking for a full-time senior researcher in the field of labour law, logistics and transport law.

Position

  • You will assist in ongoing research projects in the field of labour law, logistics and transport law and the research and valorisation activities in this field, supervised by prof. dr. Wouter Verheyen.
  • You will help coordinate project proposals in the field of labour law, logistics and transport law and contribute to attracting external funding. If possible, you will act as named co-applicant of these proposals.
  • You will assist in the supervision of PhD students and other team members.
  • You will fulfil a limited number of teaching activities in the field of labour law, logistics and transport law (maximum 20 % of your working time). You will provide, among other things, legal skills education in the bachelor of laws, supervision of bachelor and master theses, and programme components in the field of labour law, logistics and transport law.
  • You will participate in the provision of academic services: you will represent the team both internally and externally, help to coordinate service projects, serve on boards and committees and manage the social media visibility of the research team.

Profile

  • You hold a PhD in law, or another research field with expertise in labour law, logistics and transport law (or you will have obtained it by the time you start work). This is a condition of admissibility.
  • Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies .
  • Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision .
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
  • You can speak and write fluently in English.
  • Prior experience in project management and expertise in project drafting are added values.

What we offer

  • We offer a full-time contract as a senior researcher for a period of three years.
  • We offer a position in a dynamic research team consisting of junior and senior researchers working on platform economy, mobility and logistics.
  • We commit ourselves to contributing to your academic development by including you as named co-applicant in research proposals (unless impossible) and by awarding you co-promotor roles in relevant starting PhD-trajectories.
  • Your gross monthly salary is calculated according to the pay scale  for a principal research fellow in the Contract Research Staff category (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
  • You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, a group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
  • The planned start date is 15 September 2024 or as soon as possible after that date.
  • You will do most of your work at the City Campus in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
