YOUR TASKS
We are seeking a scientific researcher to work with the Middle East and North Africa Research Group (MENARG) in the framework of the finalization of a BOF research project on the transformation of agriculture and women farmworkers' political mobilization for labor rights in Southern Morocco. The successful candidate will work together with prof. dr. Koenraad Bogaert in finalizing and writing up the data and research of a four yearlong study the relation between agricultural transformation and female labor struggle in the South of Morocco. The position is part-time.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Suitable candidates must have
- A master’s degree in Middle East Studies, Development Studies and/or Area Studies (MENA).
- Knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic, Moroccan dialect, French, and English (fluency) is required.
- Familiarity with conducting fieldwork research in North Africa, more specifically Morocco, is required.
- Specialist knowledge of contemporary politics and history of North Africa is required, with a special focus on Morocco, agricultural development and labor history.
- Specialist knowledge and understanding of the political economy of development and underdevelopment is required.
- Specialist knowledge and understanding of social movement theories is required.
- Academic publications in the field of agrarian studies and/or Middle East Studies.
- Has the ability to work independently to facilitate and lead team work
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 7 months.
- Your contract will start on 1/04/2024 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales .
