About the function
The research centre EDM is looking for passionate computer scientists with a strong interest in participating in applied research.
You will contribute to research projects in the context of the manufacturing industry, being part of a multidisciplinary project team, with researchers from other complementary research groups and innovation-oriented companies.
The research work consists of coming up with innovative concepts and (especially) the development of demonstrators and working prototypes.
In terms of content, the research work will focus on intelligent interactive systems, networking & security, mixed/augmented/virtual reality & visual computing, partly depending on the current projects and on your preference.
Excellent performing researchers can progress to a doctoral research track, depending on their research interests and funding possibilities.
About us
The Expertise Centre for Digital Media (EDM, www.uhasselt.be/edm ) has been conducting (mainly) software-oriented research in computer science for more than 25 years. The EDM works according to the “Combining Applied and Basic Research” (ABC) principle, striving for fundamental innovations that quickly find their way to the society and end users. This vision has a.o. resulted in structural collaboration with the Flemish strategic research centres iMinds/imec and Flanders Make.
The EDM offers researchers a stimulating, pleasant and easily accessible working environment in which teamwork and wellbeing play an important role. Researchers will be given the opportunity to study the latest technologies and work with state-of-the-art equipment to support the research.
