This position involves teaching, research, and service. The teaching responsibilities include:

  • Nederlandse Taalkunde I (https://onderwijsaanbod.kuleuven.be/syllabi/n/V0AM8BN.htm )
  • Nederlandse Taalkunde III: formele taalkunde (https://onderwijsaanbod.kuleuven.be/syllabi/n/F0AN8AN.htm )
  • Nederlandse Taalkunde: morfologie (https://onderwijsaanbod.kuleuven.be/syllabi/n/F0VJ3AN.htm )
  • supervision of BA- and MA-papers

In addition, the candidate is expected to conduct high quality scientific research into the morphology and/or syntax of Dutch, and to actively participate in and support faculty-wide initiatives focused on outreach and student recruitment.

  • you will be stationed in Leuven, a historic, yet dynamic and lively city in the center of Belgium, twenty minutes removed from Brussels, the capital of the EU, and less than two hours removed from Paris, London, and Amsterdam. You will also be expected to teach at the Kortrijk campus of KU Leuven.


Eligibility criteria

  • a PhD in linguistics, preferably on the morphology and/or syntax of Dutch. Experience with formal linguistics is an asset.
  • teaching experience at the BA- and MA-level with respect to Dutch syntax and morphology
  • native speaker of Dutch (or comparable level)
  • a proven track record of high quality linguistic research
  • fluency in both written and spoken English
  • an ability to work both independently and to function in a group
