2 - Position description

The Faculty of Sciences and Bioengineering Sciences, Department Chemistry, is looking for a postdoctoral researcher. 

More concretely your work package contains: 

• Your work will deal with the development of new (allosteric) ligands that are able to disrupt a specific protein-protein interaction in cancer.

• You will be responsible the design and synthesis of bioactive peptide-based ligands or small molecules , including the organic synthesis of custom amino acids when required.

• You will participate discussions that guide the design and optimization process of these peptides.

• Outside of your research activities, you will also assist in the supervision of master and doctoral students.

For this function, our Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering Campus (Elsene) will serve as your home base. 

 
3 - Profile

What do we expect from you?

• Doctoral degree in Sciences, (Bio)Medical Sciences, or equivalent.

• Experience in experimental research.
• Publication history in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences.
• A good working knowledge of English is essential.
• Experience in supervising students.
• Dynamic and flexible approach to work with an eye for accuracy. 
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.

4 - Offer

Are you going to be our new colleague?

You’ll be offered a contract, for an assignment of 1 FTE, for 12 months (extendable, on condition of the positive evaluation of the research activities), with planned starting date 01/05/2024. 

You’ll receive a salary linked to one of the scales set by the government.
