POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN MOUSE MODELING OF LYMPHATIC DISEASES

We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious postdoctoral fellow to study the pathophysiological bases of primary lymphedema using mouse models. The postdoctoral fellow will participate in maintaining the colonies (with the support of an animal caretaker), managing the crosses to produce diseased animals, perform in vivo and histological imaging, and other needed analyses, and write papers for submission to peer-reviewed scientific journals.

The postdoctoral fellow will join the Human Molecular Genetics (GEHU) unit headed by Pr. Miikka VIKKKULA, located at the de Duve Institute, Faculty of Medicine, University of Louvain, Brussels campus (https://www.deduveinstitute.be/ ). De Duve Institute is an international multidisciplinary institute dedicated to biomedical research. Brussels provides a pleasant setting along with a very rich cultural life, just a step from France, Germany, Luxemburg and the Netherlands. Brussels is the European Union’s Capital City with a most multicultural life setting.

The postdoctoral fellow will work in collaboration with the PhD students and senior scientists of the group, including Dr Pascal Brouillard, UCLouvain NGS platform manager and expert in the genetics of primary lymphedema. We are looking for candidates with a PhD in mouse Developmental Biology and a strong record of academic achievement. Demonstrating previous doctoral experience working with mice, especially the lymphatic and/or the vascular system, is recommended. Expert knowledge on histological and imaging procedures would be an asset. Experience in supervising a student or a laboratory technician is also appreciated. The applicant must have excellent oral and written English skills and possess a diploma for working with animals (FELASA or equivalent). The applicant will be able to work independently to develop and drive his/her own research ideas, taking advantage of the resources available to the group, as well as working in a team based-environment.
