YOUR TASKS

You will develop and implement novel, robust clustering approaches to support the objective, automated analysis of patient-specific multi-dimensional digital PCR data. You subsequently validate these methods on pilot data, and once validated, you will be responsible for the swift, automated analysis of patient data in a clinical study.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary, inter-faculty team of digital PCR specialists (DIGPCR), and work in close collaboration with life science companies and medical doctors from the Ghent University hospital. Your work is done within the framework of a multi-stakeholder VLAIO-funded project “DIGDEEP”.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a doctoral degree in the domain of bioscience engineering, bioinformatics, statistical data analysis, or a related domain.
  • You have demonstrable experience (for example, peer-reviewed publications in international journals) in bioinformatics or applied statistics. You have good knowledge of R or python. Experience in developing graphical user interfaces (such as R Shiny) is an asset.
  • Having a good knowledge of genomics, specifically of (quantitative) PCR techniques is an asset.
  • Experience in explaining complex bioinformatics/statistical methods to a diverse audience is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of (scientific) English is mandatory.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a contract of definite duration with a duration of 14 months.
  • Your contract will start on 15/03/2024 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate).  Click here for more information about our salary scales .
