Postdoc: Integration of perovskites on nano-mechanical testing platform

The Roeffaers lab (http://www.roeffaers-lab.org) develops microspectroscopy tools and assays to study opto-electronic materials under realistic conditions and this at the smallest time and length scales possible. KU Leuven offers in this respect an ideal environment with a large number of science groups working on different (applied) subjects. The university is one of Europe’s oldest academic institutions and is situated in a medium-sized vibrant student town with a large international community.


Responsibilities

Based on our previous work (Science, 2019, 365(6454), 679-684), you will explore synthetic procedures to integrate poly/single crystalline metal halide perovskite thin films on a MEMS-based lab-on-chip electro-mechanical testing platform (prof. Hosni Idrissi, UCL) and study the impact of strain on the optoelectronic properties using advanced spectroscopic techniques (micro PL, Raman, absorbance). Besides the fundamental understanding, you will also explore the integration of the strained MHP materials in a photodetector. 

You will work in close collaboration with the Idrissi group (Université of Louvain La Neuve) the experts in the lab-on-chip development, and Cocoon (U Ghent) experts in thin film deposition and surface characterization, to fundamentally understand the strain stabilization.


Profile

We are seeking highly motivated candidates that holds a PhD and with a strong background in materials chemistry and characterization. Experience with thin-film processing, and electro-optical characterization is particularly desired. The candidate should be open to interdisciplinary science and collaborations. Experience with clean room work is a bonus.


Offer

Fully funded postdoctoral position. The starting date is April, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is available for 1 year period with the possibility of extension for 36 month position.
