YOUR TASKS

We are looking for a driven and experienced postdoctoral fellow to take up the coordinatorship of the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Health' consortium within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. You will play a crucial role in leading the operational aspects of the AI in Health steering committee and contribute to shaping policy on artificial intelligence in health.

  • You will spend a minimum of 70% of your assignment on scientific research in AI in Health. The developments and applications of AI in Health are endless. You develop a line of research according to your expertise and priority needs and opportunities within the faculty.
  • You participate in teaching at bachelor's or master's level.
  • You supervise students at master level in the context of exercises, internships and master's theses.
  • You supervise doctoral students.
  • You take leadership in the AI in Health steering committee: you are a member of this steering committee led by two chairs. You support the steering committee in formulating policy plans and strategies. You are responsible for the operational implementation of the drafted policies by the steering committee. You ensure smooth implementation of the strategies and objectives.
  • You ensure visibility in various forums: you actively participate and represent the consortium in various forums.
  • You act as a liaison figure between the consortium and other faculties/partners. You identify collaboration opportunities around AI in healthcare that add value to the consortium.
  • You facilitate fundraising for the consortium: you bring overview and you are actively involved in fundraising and facilitate its recruitment process.
  • You plan and coordinate symposia to increase knowledge within the consortium and stimulate external involvement.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a doctoral degree in medical sciences, biomedical sciences, health sciences, engineering sciences, bioengineering sciences or a related discipline. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
  • You may present relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated.
  • You have experience in AI, with a particular focus on AI in healthcare and are keen to help shape this field within the faculty.
  • You have an interest in policy development and implementation.
  • You have strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • You have a good knowledge of the English language, both oral and written.
  • You can work both independently and as part of a team.
  • You have good analytical skills.
  • You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher during your doctoral work.
  • You have a keen interest in student supervision in academic and/or continuing academic education.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a temporary appointment for a period of 3 years. The appointment cannot be renewed.
  • Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to 3 years, you can apply. The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term.
  • Your appointment will start on 1 May 2024 at the earliest.
