Job description         

The Department of Information and Communication Sciences provides a multi-disciplinary environment for teaching and research in the following domains: Communication (marketing, politics and multilingualism), Journalism, Performing Arts (film and theater studies), Information and Communication Sciences and Technologies. The Department is currently recruiting a full-time academic in Communication.     

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and research in the domain of Information and Communication Sciences. He/she will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: public relations, internal communication and digital communication. He/she will be able to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of current industry trends and professional practices. He/she is able to provide in-depth analyses of aspects relating to influence marketing, reputation management, brand image, corporate culture, lobbying and crisis communication. Mastery of quantitative research methodologies is considered an asset.         

All teaching and research activities will concentrate on theoretical and practical aspects of communication sciences and will promote critical thinking.

He/she must have strong leadership skills and contribute to the development of study programmes (Bachelor's degree in Information and Communication or Master's degree in Communication). The successful candidate's research activities and projects will be in line with the activities of the university’s Information and Communication Research Center (ReSIC).

Educational and scientific goals:

The applicant will be expected to develop a teaching and research statement in line with the above-mentioned subjects in the domain of communication sciences. The successful candidate is expected to supervise internships, dissertations and doctoral theses. He/she will contribute to the department’s research activities by launching group projects and applying for external funding or projects (FNRS, Regions, Europe, etc.).

Required qualifications:

PhD Degree (with doctoral thesis) in Information and Communication Sciences or Human and Social Sciences.


Required skills:
  • You have a minimum of 4 years' scientific seniority (including PhD) at the time of recruitment.
  • You can demonstrate post-doctoral experience and an excellent scientific record.
  • Pre- and post-doctoral international mobility experience is considered a plus.
  • You are able to teach in French. 
  • You have a thorough knowledge of communication sciences, as demonstrated by your scientific background and publications.
  • You have teaching experience at higher and/or university level, and excellent pedagogical skills.
  • You show initiative and are able to work collaboratively to coordinate teaching activities.
  • Fluency in English (and possibly languages other than French) is an asset.
