Offer Description
We are excited to announce a new PhD position in "Foundation Models for Earth Observation Big Data".This research opportunity will center on the development of cutting-edge self-supervised models and strategies aimed at harnessing the vast potential of multi-modal, multi-temporal, and multi-resolution satellite imagery. The focus of this doctoral research will be on creating innovative models that not only capture complex spatio-temporal patterns but also enhance various downstream tasks, including change detection, segmentation, and regression. Additional Information
Benefits
We offer a joint-PhD with KTH Stockholm.
The student will work one year in the lab at KU Leuven-Ghent, and three years at KTH.
Eligibility criteria
- You have a master's degree in engineering, computer vision, geomatics or similar, obtained with an overall grade of at least distinction (cum laude).
- You are eager to program and implement solutions, often combining commercial software with open-source APIs.
- Experience in pattern recognition, machine learning, and image interpretation is an asset.
- You have an excellent English proficiency, both in speaking and writing.
- You are willing to work in an interdisciplinary team and co-manage Master students.
- You have an inquisitive and creative mind, as well as good problem-solving skills. You can work independently and generate results.
