Your function
The Editorial manager is responsible for the day to day operation of the journal Biometrics, published by the International Biometric Society, and for which prof. Geert Molenberghs is the Executive Editor.
The position encompasses, among others :
- You perform advanced and complex administrative functions in the coordination of a particular program: the publication of the journal. You process new and revised manuscripts and send for review to referees, the Executive Editor, Co Editors, and Associate Editors; you track the progress of each review; you process associate editor reports and you report to authors. You ensure that all submission guidelines are followed and check for appropriate content. You enter manuscript details into databases and electronic folders.
- You inform appropriate administrative and management personnel regarding program operation status and you provide appropriate analysis and documentation to ensure program objectives. You contribute to the realization of future objectives (for example: An objective is to provide thorough reports to authors within a period of five months.)
- You coordinate and assist editors, together with the Executive Editor of Biometrics, and collaborate on projects.
- You collaborate with the publisher on publication issues and review online publication sites for accuracy.
- You compile information for society awards.
- You recommend and implement procedures to improve processes.
- In your role as editorial manager you support various committees.

- You have a master degree (or equivalent)
- You can ideally demonstrate relevant experience in the academic sector.
- You can work with electronic management systems.
- You are able to report clearly and regularly.

- You are very fluent in written and oral communication, in English.
- You have an enterprising attitude and will (pro)actively look for appropriate solutions where necessary.
- You work proactively and accurately, ensuring a high-quality end result.
- You can work independently.
- You are willing to work flexible hours.
