(Jr) Scientist Biology - Transcriptomics (d/m/f)

QUANTRO Therapeutics is a visionary and dynamic Vienna-based start-up company that strives to establish a novel class of effective therapeutics interfering with disease-causing transcriptional programs in cancer and other diseases. At our R&D labs and company headquarter at the Vienna BioCenter Campus we currently have an opening for a (Jr) Scientist BIOLOGY – Transcriptomics (D/M/F).
The position can be filled immediately and comprises of the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Act as a key player in the ongoing development, validation, and troubleshooting of transcriptomics-based assays, both for HTS and hits validation/characterization;
- Oversee the operations of different NGS sequencing workflows, from sample preparation, library construction, data generation, data processing, to interpretation of results, ensuring a high level of quality and reliability of the results generated;
- Draft experimental plans, validate reports, work instructions, technology transfer documents, study summaries and SOPs;
- Keep abreast of new scientific/technological developments by attending scientific meetings/seminars and through regular scientific review;
- Present scientific results and developed technologies at internal and external meetings.
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications and experiences:
- Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry or related subjects in the biological sciences;
- Thorough knowledge and practical experience of various molecular biology technologies, including but not limited to DNA cloning, RNA and DNA isolation, PCR, quantitative real-time PCR, NGS-based techniques;
- Thorough knowledge and practical experience of cell culture techniques;
- Excellent data analysis skills: ability to analyse large data sets in statistical packages such as Prism and/or Excel;
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate complex ideas to both technical and nontechnical audiences;
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects delivering results by meeting project deadlines;
- Comfortable in an agile working environment, working independently, and being flexible to address the changing demands of a startup company.
The following capabilities are a way to stand-out and will be an advantage:
- Experience with HTS and lab automation;
- Knowledge of NGS software platforms, bioinformatics pipelines, and NGS data processing and interpretation solutions;
- Experience with cellular and molecular models used in cancer biology.
