The Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information Innsbruck (IQOQI-IBK ) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW ), Austria`s leading non-university research and science institution, dedicates its work to theoretical and experimental basic research in the areas of quantum science. IQOQI is pleased to invite applications for the

(full-time, 40h per week)

With the IQOQI Prize Postdoctoral Fellowship program the institute seeks to identify, recruit and support the most talented and promising young quantum physicists at an early stage of their careers.

The Fellowship is awarded for two years - with an optional third year - to an outstanding experimental or theoretical physicist. It offers the freedom of collaborating with all research groups at the institute. Choosing a hosting research group is not a requirement, but optional. We value this independence and support and foster it. The IQOQI Prize postdoctoral researchers are communicated accordingly, including their visibility on our website.

Recipients are selected by a committee of the scientific directorate and should have completed their Ph.D. degree by the time they start their assignment. They should show outstanding research in theoretical or experimental quantum physics commensurate with the level of the position, and an ability to identify and pursue research problems independently while working well in an interactive and dynamic setting.

Your profile:

·         PhD degree in physics (at the start of the fellowship)

·         Excellent academic record in quantum science

·         Ability to identify and pursue research independently

·         Excellent verbal and written English skills

·         Ability to work independently as well as in a team and to present scientific results to the community

Our offer:

·         Working at a leading research and quantum science institution

·         Freedom of collaborating with any research group at the institute

·         High independence

·         Possibility of close collaborations with research groups of the institutes for experimental and theoretical physics at the University of Innsbruck

·         Flextime arrangement

·         Various attractive social benefits and research funds for a total lump sum of € 7.000

We offer an annual gross salary of € 66.501,40 before taxes based on the salary scheme of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

We invite you to send your application including a motivation letter and a statement of your research interests (candidates should identify possible collaborations with at least one research group at IQOQI Innsbruck) as well as your CV, a list of publications and the contact information of three potential referees to [email protected] by March 15th , 2024.

The Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) pursues a non-discriminatory employment policy and values equal opportunities, as well as diversity. Individuals from underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
