Overview:

  • Multiple positions available - Full-time, Fixed Term and ongoing contracts

  • Salary Teacher Level 1.1 - 5 (Depending on Qualifications and Experience)

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University.

About You

As a VE Teacher specializing in ICT, your primary responsibility is to deliver course material, assess students, and supervise their progress in selected courses offered by the school. In addition, you will actively participate in the school's ongoing reviews of course content, development, delivery, teaching methods (including online delivery methods), and assessment techniques.

You will collaborate with external organizations, industry groups, and RMIT teaching and administration staff. Your performance will be based on your participation in activities that ensure your vocational competence meets or exceeds the educational level being delivered and assessed.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Effective interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments. This includes effective presentation and facilitation skills, and in the use of flexible teaching methods.

  • Skills and knowledge in the discipline areas of Information Technology or Cyber Security (E.g. CCNA Network Security) or Cloud Computing (E.g. AWS) or Networking (Cisco CCNA) or Database Management (E.g. MySQL or Oracle) or Programming (Java and Python).

  • Skills and experience in competency-based assessment.

  • Ability in ensuring current and contemporary vocational competence which meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.

  • Experience in relevant industry, and substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.

  • Capacity to diagnose learning problems in students, propose and implement effective solutions.

  • Ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team.

  • Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.

Qualifications

As a minimum requirement VET Teachers appointed to fixed term positions are required to possess the vocational, assessment and delivery competencies.

The appointee must hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the TAE10 Training and Education Training Package as a minimum qualification. This consists of 10 units (7 core and 3 electives). Teachers, who do not possess the TAE40110, must be enrolled to complete the qualification and will be subject to RMIT supervision requirements. Teachers without assessor competencies are not permitted to assess training packages.

Teachers without the delivery competencies may deliver training, provided they have the vocational competencies at least to the level of those being delivered and receive regular guidance, support and direction from a designated person who does hold the mandatory qualifications and monitors and is accountable for the training delivery. This arrangement must be documented in the teacher’s annual work plan. Records of regular meetings documenting the nature of the guidance, support and direction by the designated person must be documented in the workplan.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children Check and other checks as required by the specific role. Maintaining a valid Working With Children Check is a condition of employment at RMIT.
