About You
As the Senior Student Advisor, you will provide leadership, support and guidance to the Student Advice function of the Student Lifecycle Team in the STEM College, ensuring a high level of service is delivered. You will support the coordination of staff providing advice to students through face-to-face service, phone and webchat platforms and, coordinate enquiry resolution via the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. You will also assist in monitoring team performance against agreed benchmarks and ensuring staff are competent and confident in delivering desired outcomes. 

You will build effective beneficial working relationships and regularly communicate with a range of internal and external contacts including colleagues in Schools, Academic Registrar’s Group, Students Group and RMIT Connect.

This specific role is primarily responsible for leading the credit transfer assessments for the College, this will include collaboration with academic staff and providing guidance and support to the Student Advisors within the team.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing high quality customer service to a diverse client base in a professional manner. Excellent oral communication and interpersonal rapport skills with the ability to listen, interpret and convey information and provide advice in a clear, accurate and appropriate manner.

  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain effective relationships across the University community and to handle confidential matters with diplomacy, discretion and cultural sensitivity. High level negotiation, liaison and communication skills.

  • Proven initiative and problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as within a team.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance and commitment to continuous improvement of client services.

  • Ability to lead and maintain a cohesive team through periods of major change whilst maintaining high levels of customer service.

  • Highly developed mentorship and team building skills with experience in performance management and aligning teams to achieve performance outcomes.

  • Demonstrated administrative skills with experience exercising initiative and managing competing priorities in a busy service setting.

  • Confident and accurate use of software applications. Experience with large scale enterprise systems, databases, Microsoft Office, email, data entry and proof-reading skills.
