Salary package:  $97,707 to $102,600 per annum, plus 17% Superannuation
Term: Full-Time, Continuing (Contingent Funding) (up to 2 years)
(Part time hours will be considered)

The Position
The Sustainable Farms initiative at the Australian National University is seeking a terrestrial Ecologist to join our team to monitor biodiversity on farms. This is an opportunity to play a key role in diverse and impactful projects underpinning conservation policy and programs in agricultural landscapes.

Successful applicants must have a willingness to travel outside of normal hours and work in remote locations when required (e.g. during intensive field camps of up to two weeks at a time). There is a preference for candidates that are regionally based in the Riverina, NSW (e.g. Wodonga, Yass, or Wagga Wagga) but Canberra, ACT will also be considered.

The Person
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have extensive field work experience with strengths in bird and vegetation identification. The successful applicant must be willing and able to engage and maintain relationships with private landholders and natural resource management agencies.

The School
The Fenner School of Environment & Society conducts world-class, interdisciplinary research and education on complex environment-society systems. Sustainable Farms is a trans-disciplinary research and extension initiative based in the Fenner School. Our mission is to support the improvement of natural features on farms in temperate woodlands, to enhance biodiversity, increase farm profitability and improve farmers' well-being. The successful applicant will provide research and advice to support research and policy activities undertaken by the Sustainable Farms initiative.

The College
The ANU College of Science  encompasses the disciplines of: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environment and Society, Mathematics, Physics, and Science Communication and is also home to a number of cross-disciplinary and specialist Institutes and Centres.  Staff and students within the ANU College of Science conduct research and deliver a research-led education program that encompasses the breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and world-class facilities.
