About ECU

The School of Education is one of the largest providers of Initial Teacher Education in Australia with more than 5,000 students.  The School offers a broad range of programs including Early Childhood Studies, Primary, Secondary and Postgraduate Education.

The Role
The Professional Experience team supports the School’s students (Pre-service Teachers) in gaining the classroom experiences required to complete their professional degree. 

The Senior Professional Experience Officer is responsible for the logistics, administration and delivery of professional experience placement services and support to the School of Education. To manage the administration and delivery of professional experience placement services including the placement of students and the effective management of communique and advice provided to our external stakeholders, schools. The role ensures the delivery of quality, customer-focused outcomes, supporting the academics, placements unit coordinators and the student cohort in line with the documented processes and procedures.

The successful applicant will have a client-focussed approach, be organised, and can provide high-level administration including the coordination of complex processes.  

Key Criteria

  • High-level organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to problem-solving and analytical capabilities, demonstrating the ability to manage and prioritise enquiries, and identify appropriate escalation points.
  • Strong IT and data management skills including intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, and the ability to work across multiple databases and systems.  
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated client-focussed approach. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment, working collaboratively with others and ensuring the smooth running of daily operations.
