Overview
The Technical Services Team handles the critical infrastructure that underpins all of the University’s information technology environments. This includes procuring, managing, monitoring, running, and refreshing the environment according to best practice to supply a robust and high network architecture to the University. The infrastructure team handles the planning and full lifecycle of all technology in the technology stack (generally) up to but not including the applications. The infrastructure team handles the effective and efficient operation of all of these components. The Team strives to understand the needs of the business across operations and development, and partner to formulate solutions that support these needs and meet technical strategies and goals.

The Role
The Senior Network Engineer will handle overseeing the effective operation of the University's networking systems and surrounding security on premise and in the Public Cloud, enabling the delivery of resilient high performing and highly available systems and associated services to the University.

To be successful in this role you will need to have following key attributes/experience:

  • At least two years hands on experience in a similar senior network technical role.
  • A good understanding of configuring, administrating and engineering of Routers, Switches, Next-Generation Firewalls, VPNs (Virtual Private Network), multi-segmented networks, Load balancers and an excellent understanding of Networking Protocols.
  • Experience with Azure Networking, Security and WAN connectivity.
  • Comfortable with scripting languages such as PowerShell and/or BASH and JSON.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and configuring DNS (Domain Name Servers), DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and NTP (Network Time Protocol) (Network Time Protocol) Infoblox appliances.
  • Managing and working with 3rd party network vendors.
  • Ability to work under pressure and a quick learner.
  • Embrace innovative technologies, change and rise to challenges.
  • Good understanding of implementing, designing and supporting Wireless technologies.
  • Comfortable with taking part in an on-call roster.
