(Level B/C) $102,951 to $144,367 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Fixed term-part time position available immediately until the 16th of December 2022.

Wellbeing and Pastoral Care Coordinator Years 4-6 for the Adelaide Medical School (AMS).

This role will facilitate student support, including referral to counselling, health and academic advisory services to address students’ financial, social, cultural, personal, physical and mental health needs.

You will meet with and support students (including students who have failed examinations) who are at risk of not completing the medical program.  These students may self refer, or be identified by tutors, course coordinators and/or year level advisors.  This role also works in partnership with the AMS Dean to manage medical students whose impairment raises concerns about their fitness to practice medicine.

There may be an opportunity to design specific educational interventions for groups of students, as appropriate and identified in collaboration with course and program coordinators.

To accomplish this role, the incumbent will need to travel to be present at the various main clinical teaching sites of AMS, including the RAH, TQEH, Lyell McEwen and Modbury hospitals.

To be successful you will need: 

  • A knowledge and understanding of the higher education system and factors leading to student success.
  • Experience in counselling people facing difficulties.
  • An understanding of the concepts of medical professionalism and Good Medical Practice.
  • Awareness of the range of campus and off-campus services available to assist students.
  • An ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information in a discrete but pro-active fashion.
