About the role

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Senior Developer (Application Support) to join our ITS Applications Services team where you will be a valued contributor in ensuring Support and enhancement of RMIT business applications.

The Senior Developer (Application Support) provides a range (maintenance, analysis, design, development, implementation, and support) of sophisticated technical software development services aimed primarily at building and maintaining the University’s core operations systems such as TeraText, ServiceNow, Archibus, and Syllabus Plus.

This position has technical leadership responsibilities in project work as well as in the recommendation of new technologies and standards.

About you 

To be considered for the position you will showcase extensive experience in providing support services to a high standard.

You will showcase a high level of expertise in the following areas:

  • Extensive experience in maintaining and enhancing enterprise applications, including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, and support a thorough understanding of the SDLC.

  • Highly developed communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationships, internally and externally, and to facilitate the integration of a range of internal and external procedures and requirements.

  • Substantial experience in debugging or troubleshooting complex problems while providing effective progress communications and fault escalation procedures.

  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting and enhancing applications and providing support services to high quality integrated business systems.

  • The position requires knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Application development frameworks and technology suites (e.g., JavaEE /.NET), web development (e.g., HTML, XML, CSS) and scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, VBscript)

  • Python, PHP, Groovy, other niche languages, and shell (BASH, PowerShell) scripting and process automation.

  • Vendor Management in the configuration and support of 3rd party applications.

  • Desirable: configuration and development within enterprise platforms such as Service Now, Archibus, Content Manager (TRIM), Syllabus Plus

  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic support and advice, work independently as well as a productive team member, project leader or mentor, to achieve objectives operating within complex organisational structures, and to proactively.
