About You


Working as part of Architecture & Software Engineering, the Scrum Master’s primary purpose is to  facilitate our agile development squads in delivery of work and leading the squads on product stream or project delivery.  The primary focus for this role is the university’s Student Administration and Management System, a major ERP system essential to the running of the university, including the many integrations with internal and external (government) systems.

Working with product stream stakeholders and project managers, this role needs to manage the responsibilities and impediments to ensure successful delivery outcomes. This role helps the squad manage realistic outcomes for the business while maintaining high standard of continuous improvement delivery, and meeting delivery goals committed in the quarterly planning process. There is also an enormous focus on transparency of what is practically possible and clear messaging on all squad related matters. Finally, the scrum master will be the go-to person to coach and elevate agile practices within the squad.

This role may work with 1 to 2 squads of up to 10 people each, and may require leadership of cross squad requirements within a single product stream.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Proven experience in being resourceful and entrepreneurial (in approach to problem solving).
  • Experience in working as a scrum master in a distributed squad setup for at least 2 years.
  • Experience in an education setting for 1-2 years(preferred).
  • Experience working across a dynamic portfolio at various levels of scale  Analytical and critical thinker with good experience with facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile implementation and applying relevant SAFE/scrum/agile principles, practices and theories.
  • Certified Scrum Master and agile project delivery experience a must.
  • Strong technical aptitude and experience leading teams in delivering quality software.
  • Great interpersonal skills for building strong working relationships within the agile squads as well as with peers, business stakeholders and the broader IT community.
