About Research Development and Support 

Research Development and Support (RDS) works with Flinders researchers, Colleges, Centres and Institutes, other portfolios, and external stakeholders to proactively support our research. Our teams underpin Flinders’ research evolving from ideas through to impact. RDS is part of the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and provides excellence in all facets of research management and promoting Flinders’ research. 

 
About the Role:

As the Research Support Assistant, you will provide vital administrative and project support for the researcher professional development and communication activities facilitated and delivered by Research Development and Support (RDS). This will include drafting correspondence, providing organisational support for the team’s activities, managing emails, calendars, and databases. You will foster a positive customer service culture by proactively providing support for research orientated events and training, such as minuting and actioning meetings, booking meeting spaces, organising catering, and setting up events. You will also contribute to the maintenance of brochures and websites, drafting e-newsletters, and assisting with the development of new communications.

About You 

You will demonstrate a high degree of initiative and experience in delivering high quality administration and support services within a large and complex organisation. You will be an excellent communicator who harnesses their high-level interpersonal skills to develop strong and collegial relationships with staff, and stakeholders. With well-developed written communication and analytical skills, you will autonomously conduct administrative support to assist the operations of the Researcher Training, Development and Communications team. You will also provide general support to the broader Research Development and Support leadership team during absences of other team members or during peak periods for those teams. You will apply your problem-solving skills to support the team to deliver researcher professional development and communications activities.  You work well individually and as part of a team, exercising judgment in the sequencing of tasks to deliver set objectives and continuously improve processes and procedures. Your keen attention to detail will allow you to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and demonstrate commitment to high quality service delivery. 

 

In addition, you will also hold a degree or have an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training in an administrative field. You will have demonstrated well-developed computing skills in using office computer applications, including the Microsoft Office suite.
