An exciting opportunity to provide support for funding, ethics, contracts, and reporting, vital for university research, within Innovation Services

Full time contract till 24th December 2025

Research Services offers expert assistance to the University's research community concerning competitive funding, grant administration, ethics, compliance, contract management, and research-related reporting. This includes managing grants, navigating ethical considerations, overseeing contracts, and providing strategic guidance to researchers and leaders. Situated within Innovation and Commercialisation Services alongside Business Development and Commercialisation, Research Services plays a pivotal role in supporting research endeavours across the University.

The Research Services Administrative Officer operates with broad guidance and is tasked with overseeing the schedules of senior personnel while also delivering various clerical, administrative, and specialized services essential for the smooth functioning of the Research Services Office. These responsibilities encompass organizing events and meetings, managing office supplies, communicating with building management as necessary, aiding in report generation, and conducting data entry, monitoring, and verification tasks.

To be successful you will need:

  • Experience in providing support to senior staff members, particularly related to diary management.
  • Experience in office administration within a team environment with high level organisational, administrative and time management skills, with the ability to use initiative and judgement to establish priorities and to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and other common software packages.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills, with the ability to liaise and interact effectively with people across all levels, both from within and outside the University.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a university environment or similar large organisation.

Qualification/s:

  • Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
