  • Base Salary starting from $91,644+ 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

A new and exciting opportunity is available for a Research Project Officer to provide research project support to the Chief Investigator with coordinating and implementing a range of activities and tasks for cutting edge research projects in communicable diseases and the quality and safety in health care. The appointee will be a member of the team for the recently Medical Research Future Funded ($1.5M) Project HIRAID Aged Care .

The incumbent will join a team that is addressing some of the most pressing health challenges using transformative behaviour change research approaches. 

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • coordinate the project and research data collection and provide administrative services/support for the work area for data collection

  • coordinate and provide project support for the work area

  • coordinate and provide administrative services and support for ethics submissions and other reporting under the guidance of the Chief Investigator for the work area

  • coordinate and provide support for the development of research publications for the work area

  • coordinate and provide project financial management and administrative support to the Chief Investigator for the work area

  • undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities.

The Research Project Officer will be located principally at the Camperdown campus of the University of Sydney and work at our campus within Sydney Institute for Infectious Diseases at the University’s Western Sydney Local Health District brand new K-Block Precinct at Westmead Hospital as required. The incumbent will be required to travel to trial site across Western Sydney Local Health District and other local NSW areas.

About you

  • hold tertiary qualifications in psychology or behavioural sciences and a doctoral qualification

  • have enthusiasm and interest in working within in a clinical research-intensive environment, or interest in teaching and working in relevant fields in academia or clinical practice

  • experienced in carrying out literary searches and preparing literary reviews for further analysis

  • have experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions and grant applications

  • be able to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work

  • have advanced skills data analysis, using statistical analysis tools, and reporting on research findings

  • have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters

  • have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritize workload during busy periods

  • have a working understanding of relevant aspects of the Work Health and Safety Policy and relevant legislation, including Safe Laboratory Practices, as applicable to the work environment

  • have a current driving licence.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
