Your new role
Are you passionate about mental health awareness and prevention initiatives? Do you have a strong background in research and a desire to make a meaningful impact in this field? If so, we are looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Research Fellow. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at understanding and preventing suicide.
The Partnership Project aims to facilitate mental health awareness and prevention initiatives, provide student-focused support for at-risk students, and provide staff training to implement a real whole-of-university approach from prevention to post-intervention. In addition, the project will address the critical need for suicide prevention efforts at a community level, reducing the significant distress and burden that each youth suicide brings.
Key responsibilities, but not limited to:
- Manage ethics applications, reporting, and oversee projects.
- Conduct research on mental health awareness and suicide prevention initiatives.
- Collect and analyse data related to mental health programs and interventions.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of mental health awareness campaigns.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and evaluate suicide prevention strategies.
- Prepare research reports and publications for dissemination.
- Conduct research translation activities with stakeholders and key partners.
- Supervise Honours research projects and co-supervise HDR students.
- Develop your own research program in mental health including publishing high-quality journals.
- A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline.
- Evidence of a record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
- Evidence of quality and impact of research outputs/creative works including journal ranking, citation indices, patents awarded, reputation and standing of publishing house or other outlets, independent review from distinguished scholars or critics, or equivalent esteem measures as appropriate to the discipline.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
- Commitment to quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise HDR students
- A history of successful competitive grant applications.
- Experience in suicide prevention research
