Reporting to:
CareSearch Director
The Research Fellow (ELDAC Project) will work with the CareSearch Director to undertake research and activities to meet agreement deliverables for the End of Life Directions for Aged Care (ELDAC project). The incumbent will contribute to design, implementation and analysis of project activity including evaluation reporting.
The Research Fellow will take responsibility for project messaging to ELDAC audiences, maintaining web content currency and encouraging the use and uptake of ELDAC resources by the aged care workforce.
The Research Fellow will supervise and support a small team working in the area. In addition, the Research Fellow will actively review new and current research related to the ELDAC work deliverables and report on the ELDAC work through project communications, publications, and conference presentations.

Key Position Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will be accountable for:

  • Actively contributing to the ELDAC project facilitating the delivery and evaluation of agreement activities and the reporting of project activities.

  • Overseeing project messaging to ELDAC audiences, maintaining accuracy of ELDAC web content, and facilitating the use and uptake of ELDAC resources by the aged care sector.

  • Contributing to ethical, high quality and innovative research and evaluation through activities such as applying for ethics approval, scholarship, publishing in recognised high quality publications, external grant acquisition, community outreach activities, and broad dissemination of research findings.

  • Supervision of Honours students, if required.

  • Independently contributing to the planning and execution of this research by offering new and innovative ideas, reviewing relevant literature and other sources of information, actively participating in the production of data, contributing to the writing, and editing of grant applications, and assisting in the communication of the project findings.

  • Developing and maintaining collaborative industry partnerships to enable the coordination, planning and execution of the ELDAC project tasks.

  • Establishing and maintaining collaborations within the University, and at State, national and international levels in order to improve research activities and enhance future project opportunities.

  • Some out of hours work (including weekends) as well as rural SA, interstate, and overseas travel, may be required.

  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the position as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.

Key Position Capabilities

  • Completion of a PhD in aged care, palliative care, nursing, allied health or other relevant fields.

  • Demonstrated research and project experience such as the design of projects and studies, and the preparation of reports, ethics, publications, and grant applications.

  • Familiarity with and/or experience in the provision of online resources and information to health professionals

  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies.

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering project targets on time.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute data collection and analysis.

  • An understanding of contemporary issues in palliative care, aged care, and delivery of health policies.

  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills and experience in collaborating and engaging with diverse stakeholders and industry partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to critically review the literature in relevant fields.

  • Demonstrated experience to undertake collaborative research and establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and industry.

  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills in an academic environment.
