  • Base Salary $97K - $106K (HEO7) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Faculty of Science is currently seeking to appoint a Research Development Officer who will support the research activities of the faculty, by leading the research support activities for specific portfolios within the Faculty to effectively provide for the operational requirements of research active staff, provide planning to support growth, and focus on building and achieving best practice standards.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • coordinate activities that grow and develop the research performance of the work area and enhance the faculty’s research profile within and outside the University

  • play an active role in implementing Faculty strategies and initiatives designed to foster excellence and innovation in research, improve research performance and research culture, improve the researcher experience, and support the attraction of outstanding researchers to the faculty

  • provide support to senior management in analysis and planning

  • offer support and operational advice on research issues to the researchers and key stakeholders within the faculty.

  • a tertiary qualification with relevant research support experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training

  • experience in a tertiary organisation, working knowledge of academic institutions, structures and the higher education sector

  • extensive experience in developing and working on research grant applications, including expertise in strategic writing

  • a client focused mentality with the ability to build partnerships between the precinct research team and the schools leadership teams

  • excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams, research administration software (e.g., IRMA, PURE), and newsletter creation (Outfit, EmmaHQ, Campaign Monitor)

  • extensive knowledge of University policies and procedures and administrative processes within a tertiary environment

  • excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes

  • sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matter.
