Business Administration Trainee – Ignite Traineeship Program

The Ignite Indigenous Traineeship Program is a platform for Indigenous peoples of Greater Western Sydney to participate in on-the-job training alongside vocational education and training (VET) in a large higher education organisation.

About the Role
This is a 12-month employment opportunity for you to learn various aspects of administration within a business environment while undertaking VET studies. The main aspects of the role will include:

• Complete Certificate III in Business Administration
• Providing service/administrative support to the workplace supervisor and business unit
• Maintain record keeping and filing systems
• Use computerised information systems and related technologies
• Prioritising own and other adhoc tasks to meet required deadlines
• Working collaboratively with your workplace supervisor and colleagues
• Building and maintaining professional workplace relations with internal and external stakeholders

About You
To be considered for intake into this entry level employment program candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

• To identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
• To have completed a year 9 level of schooling or equivalent
• To have an interest in general business administration duties
• To display a commitment to enrol and complete a Certificate III in Business (Administration) traineeship for 12 months
• Applicants must not have a completed any formal education or training resulting in a qualification

This is a full-time, fixed term role for 12-months with multiple positions on offer in 2023.

These positions will be based in the multiple Schools, Divisions or Institutes across Western Sydney University. Please note that some of these roles may be shared between two or more of business units within the university and a trainee may need to travel between campuses.

There are multiple opportunities at the following Western Sydney University campuses;

• Bankstown
• Campbelltown
• Hawkesbury
• Kingswood
• Parramatta City
• Parramatta South
• Westmead

Applicants will be asked to rank the seven Western Sydney University campuses in order of preference.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 1 $63,832 to $66,414 (comprising salary of $53,939 to $56,121 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
