About You
The Research and Innovation(R&I) Business Partner is a key liaison between the STEM College and Research and Innovation Portfolio. The role provides strategic advice and support to the College on the development and implementation of research and innovation initiatives aligned to the College’s strategic initiatives and the College and School R&I Action Plans, which support the University’s strategy. The role is responsible for understanding the focus areas of research across the Schools and College to effectively support growth in research and innovation performance and identifying opportunities based on in-depth knowledge of research capability and capacity. The position ensures STEM priorities and needs are effectively communicated across R&I to ensure aligned delivery of services and support.  The incumbent is required to partner with teams across R&I and the College and Schools within STEM,  and engage key stakeholders in the pursuit of opportunities and work effectively as part of a matrix model.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • Extensive experience in supporting research and innovation in an academic/research environment.
  • Excellent business, financial and commercial acumen skills gained in a research environment/context with demonstrated ability to apply those skills to prepare business cases and key strategic documents.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing strategies for enhancing research performance.
  • Strong business and data analysis skills, with demonstrated ability to present insights using high quality mediums.
  • Demonstrated engagement, negotiation and influencing skills and a track record of developing deep partnerships.
  • Demonstrated capability to build research quality through strategic, high quality initiatives that drive impact and are aligned to strategy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, influencing and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated history of behaviour aligned to the RMIT values, leadership capabilities and professional capability framework.
