This is a fantastic opportunity be part of the Defence Trailblazer for Concept to Sovereign Capability - a collaborative partnership between the University of Adelaide and UNSW. This opportunity is also advertised by UNSW.
The Portfolio Manager, Culture will report to the General Manager, Workforce, Innovation & Culture and will oversee important programs of work designed to develop, test and support the adoption of:
- Innovative incentive, recognition and reward initiatives that encourage university-industry collaboration
- Open, collaborative Intellectual Property (IP) measures that are attractive for industry partners
The Portfolio Manager, Culture will also support a research project analysing the development, progress and outcomes of Defence Trailblazer programs. The successful candidate will enjoy working closely and collaboratively with their colleagues to support the delivery of Workforce and Innovation programs.
This role calls for a strategic and proactive individual who is well-versed in research commercialisation, innovation and/or entrepreneurship activities in an education and/or industry setting.
To be successful you will need:
- Substantial experience managing multiple complex programs including program planning, goal setting, budgeting, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- An understanding of university academic incentives and IP measures, or the ability to quickly understand these.
- Very strong analytical skills including the ability to draw upon global and local best practice to design incentive structures, operating models and position descriptions to facilitate closer research collaborations between academia and industry.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly the ability to write effective reports for senior stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of university staff, students and other stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently.
Qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- The successful candidate may be required to hold or attain an Australian government security clearance.
Knowledge and experience in the higher education, Defence and/or defence industry sectors is desirable.
